About Hugh
Hugh Barclay’s work as a book artist began with The Poole Hall Press in the seventies.
He acquired his own press in the early eighties, publishing A Letter to Teresa in 1983 and The First Paradise, Odetta … in 1985. Hugh endured a book hiatus for the next 20 years secondary to business and personal pressures. His effort during this time was restricted to Christmas Keepsakes and ephemeral. However, in his retirement, he has revived Thee Hellbox Press to be a voice for those without a voice and generate funds for worthwhile causes while giving Hugh the joy of creating books that are visual art forms using his innovative objective abstract prints, sculptures, and paper materials to transmit meaningful visual statements.
